St. Dominic’s College, successfully hosted the Initiation into Mathematics (IniMath) Kerala-2025, a regional variant of the prestigious Mathematics Training and Talent Search (MTTS) program from May 5 to May 10, 2025, marking the first time this nationally recognized mathematics summer camp was held on campus. Organized jointly by the Mathematics Department of St. Dominic’s College and the MTTS Trust, with funding from the National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM), the program brought together 40 highly motivated second-year undergraduate students from across India.
The MTTS program, launched in 1993, is one of the most influential training camps in the country for nurturing young mathematical talent. Over six days, participants engaged in intensive academic sessions led by eminent mathematicians: Dr. K.V. Jayantan (IIT Madras), Dr. Gayatri Panicker (VIT Vellore), and Dr. Vishnu Namboothiri (BJM College, Chavara).
The camp provided a unique platform for students to deepen their understanding of mathematics through a blend of lectures, discussions, and problem-solving sessions.
As part of St. Dominic’s College’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations, the successful hosting of this event underscores the institution’s ongoing dedication to academic excellence anbd national-level engagement. The MTTS summer camp concluded on May 10, leaving students and organizers with a sense of inspiration and achievement.
