PG Department of English

The Post Graduate programme in English was started in St. Dominic’s College, Kanjirapally, in 2013 as a self-funded programme. The establishment of the department was quite in accordance with the pronounced vision of the management to cater to the higher educational needs and aspirations of the candidates from far and near.

MA in English Language and Literature has multidimensional objectives including

  •  To provide a platform for the graduates in English and for those from other disciplines interested in English to continue their higher studies.
  • To ensure the vertical mobility of the candidates by unfolding before the students the vistas of job opportunities so that they may be well-equipped and well placed in various walks of life ahead.
  • To produce scholars in the areas of English Language and Literature so that they may promote the study of English, especially, in the wake of English being a prominent international language.

Apart from ensuring the syllabus- oriented teaching and learning, the department is prone to equip the students with additional inputs so that they may be able to brave the hazards not only in the job market but also in every walk of life. The cultural programmes under the auspices of the English Association and the literary bonanza named OSTARA conducted every year bear ample testimony to this commitment.
